Speed Running: 90 mph (145 kph) maximum. Note that the act of running does tire out its operator, but at 10% of the usual fatigue rate thanks to the robot exo-skeleton. Leaping: Not possible without the assistance of jet thrusters. A Jet thruster assisted leap can propel the unit up to 200 feet high and 300 feet across without actually attaining flight. Flying: The rocket propulsion system enables the SHIVA to hover in mid-air at any altitude and fly at superior speeds. Maximum flying speed is 375 mph (483 kph), but cruising speed is considered to be 150 mph (240 kph). Maximum altitude is 12,000 feet. Flying Range: The nuclear power supply gives the SHIVA 15 years of life but the jet rockets get hot and need to cool after a maximum of eight hours of continuous flight at speeds above cruising, 16 hours at cruising speed. It can fly and indefinitely with rest stops every few hours. Underwater Capabilities: This requires the sealing and waterproofing of internal mechanisms, joints and access panels. The entire physical structure is conditioned for water pressure and stress, as well as small ballast devices and maneuver jets installed.

Weapon Systems

  1. XC-01A Heavy Laser Rifle (1): The XC-01A is a giant assault laser rifle based on the original design of the Coalition C-12. It also has an added under barrel mini-missile launcher. Primary Purpose: Assault Secondary Purpose: Defense Weight: 250 lbs (113.4 kg) Mega-Damage: Setting one: 2D6 M.D. (Full auto: 2D6x10 Burst) Setting two: 4D6 M.D. (Full auto: 4D6x10 Burst) * Bursting requires 1 melee attack to cool Setting three: 6D6 M.D. (Dual Blast: 6D6x2 Blast) Any mini-missile can be used, but is usually armor piercing or plasma (1D4x10 or 1D6x10 M.D.C.) Rate of Fire: Laser: Aimed, burst, wild: see Modern Weapon Proficiencies. Mini-Missile Launcher: 1 mini-missile. Effective Range: Laser: 2000 feet (610 m) Mini-Missle Launcher: One mile. Payload: Laser: Nuclear feed. Mini-Missile Launcher: A carrying side pack can hold six mini-missiles (weighs about ten pounds/4.6 kg), a back pack can hold 12 missiles and a portable carrying case (10 M.D.C.) can hold 24 mini-missiles (weighs about 40 lbs/18 kg). Laser Targeting: Add +1 to strike on an aimed shot. Black Market Cost: 1,000,000 credits for the rifle and 2200 for each plasma or armor piercing missile.

  2. C-40R SAMAS Rail Gun (1): This is standard equipment for the SAMAS and is considered to be the most powerful, accurate, and lightweight rail gun in the world. Note that the SAMAS has a greater payload than the machinegun version. Also, there is no seperate power pack; the unit is hooked directly to the armor's nuclear power supply. Primary Purpose: Assault Secondary Purpose: Defense Weight: Gun: 92 lbs (41.4 kg), One Ammo-Drum: 190 lbs (85.5 kg). Mega-Damage: A Burst is 40 rounds and inflicts 1D4x10 M.D. one round does 1D4 M.D. Rate of Fire: Equal to number of combined hand to hand attacks. Maximum Effective Range: 4000 feet (1200 m) Payload: 2000 round drum, that's 50 bursts. A second drum can be hooked to the undercarriage of the rocket jets, but must be manually removed by another character with a strength of 26 or higher can replace the used drum. Reloading a drum will take about 5 minutes for those not trained, but a mere one minute by somebody trained in the use of SAMAS power armor.

  3. CM-2 Rocket Launcher (8): Each leg is armed with four mini-missile rocket launchers. Primary Purpose: Anti-Tank Secondary Purpose: Defense Missile Type: Any mini-missilecan be used, but standard issue is armor piercing (1D4x10 M.D.) or plasma (1D6x10 M.D.).
    Fragmentation will be used for anti-personnel operations. Mega-Damage: Varies with missile type. Range: Usually about a mile. Rate of Fire: One or two. Payload: Two

  4. Retractable Vibro-Blades (4): Two or three long blades, measuring a foot or two (0.3 to 0.6 m), are concealed in the forearm until extended for combat. The blades extend out of access portals on the tops of the hands.
    The blades are used like short swords. Adds 2D6 M.D.C. damage to hand to hand attacks, plus P.S. bonus.

  5. Energy Rifles and other normal weapons can be substituted in an emergency or as a back-up weapon. Space limitations and the bulk of the armor limits the additional handguns or rifles to one.

  6. Hand to Hand Combat: Rather tahn use a weapon, the pilot can engage in mega-damage hand to hand combat. See Power Armor Combat Training in the Robot Combat section.

  7. Sensor System Note: The SHIVA has full optical systems, including laser targeting, telescopic, passive nightvision (light amplification), thermo-imaging, infrared, ultraviolet, and polarization. Plus all other features common to all power armor. Spotlight Eye Beams: A narrow beam of light emitted from the eyes. Range: 120 feet (36.6 m). Sensor Bonuses: Applicable to long range weapon combat only, not hand to hand. +2 to strike and +1 to dodge. See Power Armor Combat Training in the Robot Combat section for other bonuses.

  8. Artificial Intelligence (Advanced): This is almost human in that it can "think" in both objective and subjective terms, as well as draw its own conclusions based on available data. This means it can formulate ideas, conjecture, and theories based upon analysis, past experience and speculation. It can arrive at its own conclusions and immediately react accordingly, responding to an unexpected or spontaneous situation just like a human. A robot with this intelligence can bluff, lie, improvise, take gambles (play the odds), hypothesize andeven react to the emotions of the humans around it. Name: SHIVA Alignment: Scrupulous
